April Reuel Garcia

April Reuel Garcia, the daughter of Raul & Maritza Garcia, was born on October 15th, 1993 and went home to be with The LORD on April 13, 2023. Very early on she had a knack for words that often left the hearers frozen in their tracks, wondering how she came up with these phrases. Wise beyond her years she possessed the ability to captivate listeners, and if you missed what she said, she would gladly repeat it to ensure that she was heard. In her formative years, she was a confident songbird that often filled the house with her melodies, and she marched to the beat of her own drum. Her creativity drew her straight into the drama department while in middle school where she starred in performances of Oklahoma, High School Musical, and Into the Woods. Academically she thrived and at the end of her middle school career, she earned the prestigious recognition of salutatorian. While in high school, she honed the skills that she had acquired and continued to participate in theatrical productions such as “Wicked.” She took her talents out into the sports arena and participated in softball, a game that she enjoyed playing and learning with her brothers. Being the only girl, and the youngest of four, she developed a strong loving heart, tough skin, an unbending will, and a ferocious tenacity to succeed. She joined Model United Nations where she found her true calling. She learned how to leverage her connections, delegate, debate, manage, and much more. After graduating High School, she attended Chestnut Hill College and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a focus in Legal Studies and Criminal Justice. She continued to excel academically and continued to serve those around her through positions such as a resident assistant. Since graduation, she worked as a paralegal for several large firms in Philadelphia and Wilmington. As a first-generation law student, April took a job at Dalton & Associates while attending Widener University Delaware Law School. April was a devoted, enthusiastic, and exceptionally generous person. She always put others first. Her commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging was renowned at the law school. She was a leader in the Latin American Law Students Association, a member of the Black Law Students Association, a member of the DEI Student Council, and was the president-elect of OutLaw. She also served as treasurer of the Intellectual Property Society and additionally took part in note taking to assist students who needed accommodations. She was active in her service to the church and assisted wherever she could. Since a young age, April worked among many, holding several positions to care for and help others, while developing lifelong bonds during her time spent with those at Saint James, Emmanuel Full Gospel Church of God in Christ, and Holloway Memorial. Not ever desiring to be in the forefront, she embraced her position in the background and helped with any and everything she could: praise and worship, scripture readings, prayer, choir, programming and more. Truly, the catalyst behind the shine of April's life was her immense and immeasurable amount of love, one that only God could truly give. April is a beloved member of her family who will never be replaced. Despite her age and place in the family, she was often referred to as “mommy” by her own mother, for which the two loved each other dearly. Sorrowfully, she supersedes her mother Maritza Garcia and her father Raul Garcia. She is survived by her sweetheart, best friend and love forever, Zander Tippett, her three brothers, Angel Garcia (Alejandra), Alex Garcia (La-Riese) and Adrian Garcia (Brandi), as well as one nephew, Lemuel Maddox Ezekiel Garcia, a niece, Luna Catalina Torres, a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and a multitude of friends. Always in our hearts, forever in our minds, and ever-present with The LORD, we love you April!
