Theodore J. “Ted” Stumpf passed away peacefully at age 92 on Monday September 2, 2019. Born and raised in Pennsville, NJ his father Gregor and mother Sophie ran the bake shop on Main Street for many years. He was an AAU diving champion as a young man, spending much of his youth in and around Riverview Beach Park. Ted was a proud Navy veteran and served in the Pacific during WW2. By 1949 Ted rose to Commander of VFW Post 1952 in Pennsville. After the war he married Elizabeth “Betty” McGrory, of Penns Grove, NJ, bought a home in Churchtown and together they raised two sons, Ted, Jr. and Gary. Ted was a car aficionado who enjoyed golf and boating, and loved following Philadelphia football, baseball and PMHS wrestling. Starting as an apprentice for Pete Parizi Plumbing, Ted eventually retired from DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE. His love of the River and boating also led him to work with USCG Auxiliary. After both he and Betty retired they developed a method of training workers in many facets of industry where he often enlisted the support and knowledge of other retirees. Sometime after Betty’s passing he married retired schoolteacher, Nancy Winston, and moved to Louisville, KY, but he always kept in touch with friends in Pennsville. Ted and Nancy enjoyed traveling until a series of strokes claimed his mobility and eventually contributed to his passing. Ted was predeceased by his first wife Betty. He is survived by his current wife Nancy of Louisville, KY; Ted, Jr. and Tina of West Virginia; Gary and Janice of Vermont, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Service date and time to be determined.
