Martha Ann Erdner,84,of Pilesgrove passed away November 24, 2019 in Christiana Hospital with her family beside her, after battling a variety of medical conditions and enduring procedures over the past several weeks. She is survived by her husband E. Larry Erdner; daughters Trish Lane, Susan Desmond and Lauren Coyle; and grandsons Devin Coyle and Brennan Coyle. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Marty, as she was known to her family and many friends, was born and raised in Allentown, PA by her parents and with her older brother, all of whom predeceased her. After graduating from Allentown High School, Marty went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania and the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. She practiced as a nurse in several Philadelphia area hospitals until her best friend introduced her to Larry on a blind date. Two dates later they were engaged to be me married and remained married just eight days shy of 58 years. Marty moved to Woodstown, NJ and dedicated her life to supporting her husband, raising her three children, and giving back to the community. Marty cooked countless meals, threw fabulous parties, played tennis, harvested Larry’s garden and shared it with neighbors, volunteered at the Woodstown public schools and library, was a leader for the Brownies and Girl Scouts, participated in the SHAWOSA gardening club (twice making it to the Philadelphia Garden Show), and regularly played bridge with her lady friends. Always the consummate shopper, she scoured the tri-state area looking for bargains throughout the year, refusing to pay full-price, yet always managing to find the perfect gifts for everyone. She loved watching Jeopardy, even though her family constantly chimed in before the answer was finished being read in an attempt to get a rise out of her. Marty was an avid supporter of cultural arts, frequenting museums, orchestras and theatre productions with her friends and daughters, and could identify virtually any composer and composition within the first few scales. She was a dedicated Christian, serving both as an Elder and a Deacon at the Woodstown Presbyterian Church, where she also taught Sunday School and cherished her Bible study group. Her life was full and well-lived. A private burial is planned for the family this week at Lawnside Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11 AM at the Woodstown Presbyterian Church, 46 Auburn St., Woodstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woodstown Public Library. www.adamsfuneralhome.org
