Mark David Noel Sr.

January 5, 2019

Mark David Noel, Sr., of Pittsgrove passed away on January 5, 2019, at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland, at the age of 87. Mark was born in Hastings, Pennsylvania, on January 12, 1931, to Luke and Sarah (McMullen) Noel. Mark will be lovingly remembered by his children, Mark, Jr. (Lucellia), Allen (Gayla), Mary, Steven (Susan), Lisa (David) Ripa, Joseph (Brighid), and Anne (Mark) Sheppard. In addition, he is survived by his brother, John (Jack) Noel and his sisters, Rose Stairs, Joy Miller, and Sally Ann Arbogast as well as 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mae, 2 sisters, Margaret Knopp and Theresa Reffner and 5 brothers, Anthony, Jude (Tad), Innocent, Bernard, and Marcellus Noel. In his younger days, Mark worked in the coal mines in Central Pennsylvania. He moved to Flemington, NJ, where he worked for GLF. In 1960, he moved his family to Pittsgrove, NJ, to work at Strang Transportation, Elmer, NJ, and later, Farmrite, Shiloh, NJ. Before finally retiring, Mark drove truck for C. Harrell, Inc., Elmer, NJ. His favorite sport was baseball, and enjoyed his years as a coach for Elmer little league. Almost every year, he went to Calabogie, Canada, with his family to fish. He also enjoyed hunting, especially with his favorite beagle, Shy Doggie. Mark wasn’t a big fan of golfing, but he went with his sons as often as he could because he treasured that time with them. He also enjoyed hitting golf balls across the field with his favorite physical therapist, Gia Shimp. Mark was a member of the Woodstown Moose Lodge where he won 2 Horseshoe championships and 3 Dart championships. Mark’s final wish was to have his body donated for medical research and training. It was his hope that they will be able to learn something from all he has been through in his life that will help others. Services for Mark will be private and at the convenience of the family.
