Mario Screnci, 86, of Penns Grove passed away on April 30, 2021. Our father was born on April 8, 1935 in Bivongi, Italy. He was the baby of his family with those beautiful green eyes and the son of ‘Mastro Fiuri’. After he was born, our dad and his family moved to St. Caterina, a little mountain town where everybody knew each other! He loved living there so much! In fact, it was there where our dad, along with his two brothers, became the great mechanic he was today! While living in St. Caterina, he loved riding his motorcycle up and down the mountain. On one of those rides he met my mother in Monasterace, a nearby town. It was love at first sight for my dad! They married April 12, 1959 and that’s how our beautiful family began to grow! Unfortunately, economic times weren’t great so my father decided to move to the United States to give his family an opportunity for a better life and future. He spent 58 years of his life here in the United States, but never forgot his little hometown overseas where he and our mom went often in the summertime to visit! In Italy everybody called him ‘u mericanu’ because of his generosity and good heart! Our father was a man of unselfishness and compassion. Never cared about how something may affect him and always wanted to help his family and friends. He would rather have nothing if it meant giving it to a loved one. Loved a simple life but his heart was as big as the smile he put on everyone’s faces. Our hero. Our world. Our dad to many people. Heaven gained a good one. We love you and pray we could only be as good as you were. He is survived by his wife, Angelina (Belluzzi); his children, Cathy Crescenzi and her husband Frank, Mario F. and his wife CindyJo and Josephine Papaleo and her husband Rocco; grandchildren, Giada and Alessandra Papaleo, Christopher, Mark and Francesca Crescenzi and Natalie and Valentina Screnci as well as three great grandchildren, Rebecca, Lorenzo and Brock. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Ciccio and Nick predeceased him. There will be a viewing on Thursday night, May 6, 2021 from 6 until 8 PM at the Adams Funeral Home, 64 Broad St., Woodstown and again Friday morning, May 7, 2021 from 10 until 11 AM. The service will be held at the funeral home as well on Friday morning at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Eglington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that donations be sent to the Salem County Humane Society, PO Box 214, Carneys Point, NJ 08069. www.adamsfuneralhome.org
