Jason (John) Vitale passed away at Inspira Medical Center in Elmer, NJ on January 17, 2022 at the age of 66. He was the son of the late Bruno and Jenny Vitale of Hilltop, NJ. Jay grew up in Camden County and taught himself to drive at a very early age. Driving was his passion. Every job he ever had was sitting behind the wheel. Driving tow truck in his early years led to his getting a CDL and moving up to tractor trailers. He worked for different companies hauling steel, delivering furniture, driving dump truck and even had a stretch of being an owner/operator. He drove local jobs as well as over the road. In later years he became a Teamster and worked for Airborne Express, which later became DHL. When he wasn’t working, he was playing with his 4wheel drive vehicles. Going off-road and finding those little used dirt roads with water holes and dirt mounds was a favorite way to spend time. He eventually retired, but never stopped driving. In the mid 1990’s, Jay and his family settled in Salem County. This was about the time he found a love for computers. He enjoyed the new technology and taught himself (with help from his friends) how to build and repair them and became known as mrjay4x4. Unfortunately he lost his battle with diabetes and leaves behind his beloved daughter, Kristine Vitale of St. Mary’s PA, his son Kevin Weis (Jessica Walker) of Los Angeles CA and his daughter Angela Santos and her four children of Cobleskill, NY. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth (Liz) Vitale and nephew Joshua Jones of Bear, DE. His much loved housemates have both found new homes. TC now resides with a friend of Jay’s and Coco has been placed in a new home through SOS Beagle Rescue. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations made to this rescue in Atco NJ would be appreciated. Jay will be missed by all who knew him.
