Hiram Dixon Morgan, Jr. Bellmawr, NJ. Known to many as Dixon or Dixie, age 80, died February 17, 2021 at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Camden, NJ. Dixon grew up in Penns Grove and lived in Penns Grove/Carneys Point, Pennsville, Elmer and Bellmawr. He was preceded in death by his parents H. Dixon Sr. & Ruth Morgan, his younger brother Kenneth G. Morgan and his beloved dog Molly. He is survived by his longtime companion Mary L. DiFebbo, two daughters, Melissa “Missey" Morgan and husband Tom Studebaker, Rebecca Morgan and husband Greg Pinero, son Deron Morgan and wife Christie; his siblings Marjorie M. Riley (Clement), Robert H. Morgan (Dorothy), Linda Lou Gerace (Alan); His grandchildren Samantha, Tyler, Julie, Emily, Aubrey, Andrew, Camryn, Benjamin and Fiona and many nieces, nephews and extended family. After graduating from Penns Grove HS in 1958, he joined the US Army, where he served for 4 Yrs. and was stationed at Ft. Dix, Ft. Lee, Sondrestrom, Greenland and Ft. Gordon, GA. Honorably discharged as a SPEC 5 in August of 1962. He loved playing baseball starting out in Little League and continuing through Babe Ruth, High School, in the Army, South Jersey League and Semi Pro Ball for Parkway in Delaware. Dixon retired from Dupont Chambers Works in Deepwater, NJ after 37 years in October of 2001. Dixon was an active member of Brooklawn United Methodist Church singing in the choir and bible study. He was a member of the American Legion Post #72 Brooklawn, NJ. He loved Philly sports, showing horses, country music, line dancing, golf and most of all spending time at his trailer in Strasburg, PA with Mary, Molly and friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 10:30 am at Brooklawn United Methodist Church, 213 Maude Ave, Brooklawn, NJ 08030 where friends may call from 9:30 - 10:30 am. The service will be livestreamed and recorded at www.facebook.com/brooklawnumc for those who cannot attend. Interment will be at 1 pm at Finns Point National Cemetery, 454 Fort Mott Rd, Pennsville, NJ 08070. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Dixon’s memory to the Brooklawn United Methodist Church General Fund.
