Frederick K. Edwards, age 73, of Pilesgrove Township, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020. A lifelong resident of Salem County, he was born in Penns Grove to the late Frederick O. Edwards and Anna (Kute) Edwards Kissell. Fred worked mostly as a self-employed residential painter and was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Parish in Penns Grove. Fred is remembered as a free spirit with a good heart. He was an avid sportsman and loved going fishing and hunting. Fred enjoyed collecting antiques, coins and stamps and always ended up giving them all away. He loved listening to music and always had a joke to tell you. Fred could always be relied on to provide a helping hand for anyone who needed it. Fred is survived by his brother Francis Edwards of Pilesgrove; his sister Marianne Gioia (Michael Bianco, Sr.) of Pennsville; his nieces Schelly Lewis (Allen), Laurie Franklin (Jerry), Nancy Callahan (Russell) and April Lockwood (Jeff Hall); and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother in law Vincent Gioia, Sr. Due to the restrictions for the coronavirus, Fred’s viewing will be private for the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 1 PM at St. Gabriel the Archangel R.C. Church, 369 Georgetown Road, Carneys Point, NJ 08069. Interment will follow mass at Riverview Cemetery in Penns Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Fred’s memory to St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 369 Georgetown Road, Carneys Point, NJ 08069.
